Acer Iconia A500 - 10.1" AND honeycomb 3.2 (and 4.0)

Its no surprise that since we have reviewed the Acer Iconia A100, that we wouldnt do the A500 as well.
Well what will surprise you; is no matter how much it looks like the A100, it isnt.
First lets start with first glance, the back sports a nice brushed aluminum shell "the a100 is plastic"
and boy is it aesthetically pleasing! just take a look at that beauty!

If you look at it larger "ie: click on it" you can see the brushed surface.
This thing is also heftier at 1.7 pounds, the heaviest of its class from what ive gathered on it.
Feel free to correct me if im wrong; it will help everyone who comes here. but even with its heavy
set shell, its easily to 1 hand this sucker for reading books, or multitasking.

Out of the box; at least our model, was 3.0 but upgraded right to 3.2 without hassle; Acer promised 4.0 in Q1 of 2012; as of this writing in Jan 2012. 3.2 is still the lasted OS.
But there is no hardware limitation and custom roms will soon find this tablet; whether Acer likes it or not.

** Update ** custom ICS 4.0 roms exist, face cam ignores skype but worked in Yahoo video chat and google talk. our second unit came with 3.2 out of box :first one had 3.0:


This thing is MUCH better then its little brother when it comes to the battery department; bigger case
has more space I would imagine, but we got 7 hours out of it doing basic stuff.
The screen doesnt degrade nearly as bad, and has a 20% increase in pixel count.

We highly recommend this tablet, for this price you just wont go wrong, nuff said.
